Aims of our Enrichment Programme
At Tameside Alternative Provision Service, we provide a broad, rich and ambitious curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of our learners.
Alongside high‑quality classroom teaching, pupils benefit from a carefully planned enrichment programme that promotes personal development, confidence, resilience and real‑world skills.
Our Enrichment Programme aims to:
  • Broaden pupils’ horizons through new experiences.
  • Support wellbeing and emotional regulation through physical and outdoor activity.
  • Develop teamwork, communication and leadership skills.
  • Build confidence, resilience and perseverance.
  • Strengthen community links and engagement.
  • Provide pathways into accredited awards (e.g. Duke of Edinburgh).
  • Offer safe and structured environments beyond the classroom.

Programme Highlights

Graystone Action Sports Centre
Develops balance, risk assessment, resilience and confidence through structured physical challenges.
0161 Boxing Project
Promotes discipline, physical fitness, self-regulation and access to positive role models.
Cultural Capital visits
Visits to museums and National Trust sites form a key part of the school’s provision for developing cultural capital. These experiences give pupils direct access to significant art, history, and heritage, enriching their curriculum knowledge while deepening their understanding of the cultural and historical environments around them.
Fishing & Outdoor Learning
Supports emotional regulation, patience, problem-solving and connection with nature.
Swimming
Builds confidence, physical fitness and water safety skills.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Develops leadership, independence, teamwork and community engagement.
Construction Skills Programme
Provides practical vocational skills and pathways into employment or apprenticeships.
Fighting Fit Gym
Helps to develop discipline, resilience and focus—skills that transfer back into the classroom—while also building teamwork and motivation through shared goals and challenges.
