White Bridge College

Motivate to achieve

White Bridge College is the secondary provision for students in Tameside who are not currently placed in mainstream schools. We also have a small number of primary KS2 children in years 4, 5 and 6.
We provide a range of learning opportunities in order to enable young people to maximise their potential and best prepare them for the future—whether that be a return to mainstream or other educational provisions, a move on to a college course or into work and training.
White Bridge College is a purpose-built setting which aims to motivate students by offering a flexible and relevant curriculum which allows students to achieve both academic and vocational qualifications, develop practical and social skills and improve their confidence and self-esteem. Through our approach of relational inclusion we integrate therapeutic practice including ‘attachment aware’ and ‘trauma responsive’ interventions into our everyday practice. Our students also have access to out trauma therapist for specialist support.
Learning experiences take place in a range of settings, both on and off site, and we have strong links with colleges, employers, alternative educational providers and training establishments.
We aim...
  • To help our young people develop a sense of worth, identity and achievement
  • To support our young people in developing their emotional regulation skills, which in turn will impact upon their ability to regulate their behaviour
  • To support all students in learning effective, safe ways of communicating their needs
  • To help all our young people become self-disciplined, able to accept responsibility for their own actions, and able to make positive choices
  • To develop, in all our young people, the ability to listen to others, cooperate and appreciate other ways of thinking and behaving.
